In the proposed article, the reader’s attention is directed to two paths of salvation and Christian virtues — virginity and marriage. The author covers in detail the doctrine of the superiority of virginity over marriage and comes to the conclusion that the Fathers of the Church, giving a moral and religious assessment of virginity and marriage, had in mind not the virginal or marital state itself, but those conditions and means that a person has when achieving spiritual perfection.
