Merits of LFAC over high voltage direct current (HVDC) are mentioned. The current rating on thyristor devices during operation and number of devices that used in each type of LFAC are calculated and compared to determine the most suitable configuration to operate on the LFAC transmission system. The details of the power control scheme for the application of multi-terminal LFAC transmission system with the virtual synchronous generator control (VSG) are explained.
