Influencing factors of hip pain after hip replacement in the elderly

Objective To investigate the influencing factors of hip pain after hip replacement in the elderly patients. Methods A total of 106 elderly patients who underwent hip replacement in the Second Affiliated Hospital of Henan University of Science and Technology from March 2017 to October 2018 were selected. The incidence of pain within half a year after operation was recorded. The data of gender, age, body mass index, pathological type, operation mode, white blood cell (WBC), C-reactive protein (CRP), prosthesis type and activity time of hip joint were compared between pain group and non pain group. Logistic regression analysis were used to analyze the influencing factors of hip pain after hip replacement. Results The incidence of hip pain after hip replacement was 36.79% (39/106). Age, prosthesis type, postoperative hip joint activity time, postoperative CRP level and postoperative WBC level had statistic difference between pain group and non pain group (P 0.05). Age over 65 years, uncemented prosthesis, postoperative hip joint activity time >2 d, postoperative WBC>10×109/L, and postoperative CRP>10 mg/L were the influencing factors of hip pain after hip replacement. Conclusions Hip pain after hip replacement in the elderly can be affected by many factors, and the main influencing factors are age >65 years, uncemented prosthesis, postoperative hip joint activity time >2 d, postoperative WBC>10×109/L, and postoperative CRP >10 mg/L.
