Communicative approach and communicative method are two interrelated concepts. Language competence developed in social context is the basis for successful communication in the target language. The article deals with the problem of the formation of phonological hearing in the process of teaching Spanish as a foreign language. The problem of learning the correct pronunciation is key in learning Spanish at the initial stage due to the diverse dialectal variability of the Spanish language. The main difficulty in mastering Spanish phonetics is the variety of national variants and dialects, which at the level of sounding speech represent a motley allophonic picture. In this regard, the task of forming phonological hearing in the process of teaching Spanish as a foreign language is a priority.
