Abstract

St. Clair curve provides a more accessible and more straightforward way to determine the loadability of a transmission line and to study the various factors which affect it. This paper illustrates the mathematical model pertaining St. Clair curve of loadability for 345 kV lines and the development of a generalized algorithm for the loadability curves of other EHV lines like 765kV 1100kV 1500kV. This paper also highlights the study of the various factors which affect line loadability like the terminal voltage, series, and shunt compensation. The influence of voltage stability on line loadability, determination of the critical voltage, and critical loadability have also been investigated in this paper.
