His organization was in accordance with the characteristics of the Integrative Review of Literature, following the phases determined by the method for the elaboration, which selected 67 articles in the Latin American and Caribbean databases in Health Sciences, Scientific Electronic Library Online, Online System of Search and Analysis of Medical Literature, Medical Publisher and Virtual Health Library using \"epidemiology\" and \"visceral leishmaniasis\" as Controlled Descriptors in Health Sciences. After applying exclusion criteria, 10 articles were selected. The results showed an increase in cases in urban areas and a prevalence in males.
