The empirical results show that there is an inverted “N”-type curve relationship between the level of manufacturing agglomeration and the environmental pollution in the middle and lower reaches of the Yangtze River. Abstract

Based on the technology spillover effect and the “pollution paradise” hypothesis, this paper introduces the manufacturing agglomeration variables and foreign direct investment variables on the basis of the STIRPAT model, and uses the location entropy index to measure the manufacturing agglomeration level, while selecting industrial sulfur dioxide emissions as the measurement of environment pollution.
