The needs of the digital-based connecting book were analyzed through descriptive qualitative research methods and interactive data analysis techniques. The result of this study indicated that there was no implementation of digital connecting book as a media of communication between teachers and student guardians at primary school in Surakarta in the pandemic era. The communication between them were mostly done through the use of WhatsApp. However, we found out that teachers could not effectively monitor student affective aspect at home because of the lack of a structured communication system. Based on the findings, it can be summarized that the digital connecting book is needed to monitor students in the pandemic era by teachers from student guardians or parents. Abstract

Coronavirus pandemic affected the education field, especially in the implementation of the learning process which has turned into an online-based learning.
