The subjects were 100 male volunteers, 17 to 23 years of age. A moderate correlation (multiple R = .64) was found among cardiac time components and endurance performance (all-out bicycle ergometer ride time). The pre-ejection time components (i.e., electromechanical lag and isovolumetric contraction period) cannot be considered good predictors for endurance performances or oxygen consumption. Mechanical systole was found to have the most net predictive value in the various combinations for predicting all-out ride time, mile-run time, and oxygen consumption.","PeriodicalId":192960,"journal":{"name":"Research Quarterly.
