Abstract
The present study sought to analyze the economic viability of the new irrigated rice cultivars in the tropical lowlands of Tocantins, in a production system in succession rice-soybean. Costs of rice production (summer 2019/2020) and soybean (winter 2020) and yields for economic viability were collected. Adoption area of new rice varieties was estimated. The results demonstrate the economic viability of the new rice cultivars in relation to the previous cultivars, in the rice-soybean succession system. The economic impact (benefit) for the Tocantins rice producing region exceeds R$120 million (US$23 million).
