This Plan is aimed at mitigating the economic and social impact and guaranteeing the protection of the most vulnerable population. The characteristics of the National Health System are summarized, with emphasis on the Primary Care strategy, considered a strength for the prevention and control of the pandemic in the national territory; It also explains the different stages of the vaccination process and in particular the experience of its implementation in a health area. Abstract

The article describes the behavior of the COVID-19 pandemic in Cuba through selected indicators and the possible causes of its variability at different times, from the diagnosis of the first cases in March 2020, until October 30, 2021 and the main actions of the National Plan for its Prevention and Control, structured on the basis of the contributions of the scientific community and with the participation of all the organisms of the central administration of the State, the business sector, the non-state sector and the population.
