Abstract
In 2022, the Republic of Korea and the Republic of Türkiye celebrate the 65th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations, which were formalized in 1957. The Seoul authorities use the phrase " "brotherly country" " only in relation to Türkiye, primarily using this description in memory of the sacrifice of the people of the Middle Eastern state in the Korean War, as well as its support for South Korea at the international arena. Today the interconnections of the Eastern states are defined at the level of "strategic partnership".The authors have determined that a special feature of the "blood brotherhood" at the present stage has become so-called “mediated diplomacy” within various organizations and forums, for example, the G20 and the UN. In particular, the leaders of the two countries pay special attention to the development of MIKTA forum, initiated by the Korean side in 2013. The purpose of this study is to analyze the development of the union of countries "bonded by blood ties" and to identify the characteristics of their cooperation at the present stage. In accordance with the goal, the following tasks are: 1) To figure out the periodization of the bilateral relations between Korea and Türkiye; 2) To identify the features of their interaction throughout history within the framework of the selected stages; 3) To analyze the phenomenon of MIKTA and “indirect” cooperation between Seoul and Ankara. The object of the study is the "brotherhood" of Korea and Türkiye at the level of bilateral relations. Through the method of induction and deduction, the periods of interaction between Korea and Türkiye in relation to each other are considered. The content analysis method allowed the authors to trace the interpretation of the interconnectedness of the Republic of Korea and the Republic of Türkiye. Due to the methods of comparison and analysis, the authors managed considering the partnership at the "strategic" level. The scientific novelty of the article consists in the description of cooperation between Seoul and Ankara through various parameters with the identification of the specifics inherent for these actors. Research on this topic with a full review of historical facts has not yet been conducted in Russian scientific circles.
