Abstract
The CIRC model is a learning model that involves students actively in the learning process to help students understand the contents of readings that are done individually or in groups. Reading is an activity of absorbing various information and knowledge as well as new insights that can increase one's intelligence so that he is able to answer life's challenges in the future. This study aims to find out how to improve students' reading through the CIRC model of fourth grade students at SDN Lamjampok, to find out the teacher's activities in improving reading and writing skills through the CIRC model of fourth grade students at SDN Lamjampok. The approach used in this research is a qualitative approach with participatory collaborative research. The subjects in this study were teachers and fourth grade students at SD Negeri Lampjampok Aceh Besar, totaling 1 teacher and 20 students. Data collection techniques are carried out by means of observation and tests. The data is processed by the data analysis stage, namely observational analysis of students' reading abilities. The results of research in cycle I, cycle II, and cycle III obtained data that teacher activity in learning has increased in each cycle. Student activity also increased starting from cycle I with a score of 48, cycle II with a score of 60, and cycle II with a score of 80. The results also showed that the application of the Cooperative Integrated Reading Composition (CIRC) learning model could improve the reading ability of fourth grade students. SD Negeri Lampampok Aceh Besar. With the mastery of students' reading skills in the first cycle 50%, in the second cycle 65%, and in the third cycle 85%.
