Abstract
Reproductive changes are a common issue in the clinical management of domestically raised birds. Typically, these alterations result from inadequate environmental and dietary management, as well as inappropriate interactions between humans and their birds. Adjusting the environmental and dietary management is crucial for correcting these problems. However, in chronic and recurrent cases such as chronic oviposition and refractory prolapses, the use of medical therapy, hormonal treatments or surgery may be necessary. This study reports the results obtained from treating a female bird of the species Eurasian Collared-Dove (Streptopelia decaocto), which, after experiencing chronic egg-laying episodes, suffered from a prolapse of the oviduct and cloaca, leading treatment through oviductectomy combined with the use of the hormonal implant Suprelorin®.
