Abstract
Epiphysiolysis is characterized by lysis in the epiphyseal region of a long bone, which can be caused by a trauma. The present report brings a case of epiphysiolysis, and the treatment using acupuncture and chinese phytotherapy of a young neutered male ragdoll feline, monitored over a period of 11 months. The treatment consisted of eliminating obstruction of the flow of Qi and Xue (Bi bone heat syndrome), toning Jing and toning the Kidney Yin, with the stimulation of the acupuncture points with dry needling, indirect moxibustion and laser acupuncture at the points: VG14, VG20, R3, lumbar Bai Hui, bilateral B23, B54, B60, E36, VB29, bilateral VB30, VB34 and F3 and the oral use of Chinese herbal medicines: Zheng Gu Zi Jin Dan and Qi Bao Mei Ran Dan, with dose adjustment as monitoring and evolution of the case. There has been a significant improvement in the animal’s life quality regarding the pain, with improved mobility and socialization of the animal with other household contacts.
