Abstract
In order to prepare students for professional communication in the sphere of international relations, it is necessary to pay special attention to the formation of foreign language communicative competence, including teaching English Academic Writing in various written genres. The study describes the features of writing a survey report as a specific genre of Academic Writing in the English language and examines a number of stages involved in preparing and implementing the students’ project-work competition called “Best Survey Report on Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)” which is conducted in the second-year of study at the School of International Relations at MIGIMO University. The study demonstrates that it is advisable to use project-based learning to develop foreign language competence in English Academic Writing among Bachelor students at non-linguistic Universities with a humanities focus since it allowed not only to clarify the content of English Academic Writing in the genres of survey report but also, in general, increased the effectiveness of foreign language training in this educational environment.
