Abstract

Service networks of various types have as a common denominator a data structure which describes their geometry and topology. To this data structure can be attached information pertaining to non-spatial attributes of the network. If the data is computerised it becomes attractive to conceive a system which interactively monitors changes in the network. This paper describes the structure of a service network information processing (SNIP) system emphasising the hardware configuration necessary, the software support and the organisation of the data files.
