The European Patent Office (EPO), the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO), the Japanese Patent Office (JPO), and the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) become the main tools for emerging solar cells analysis. In total, 5027 patents related to organic solar cell and 1764 patents related to perovskite solar cell were analyzed and then sorted in thematic subcategories. Abstract

The innovation updates of organic photovoltaics (OPVs) and perovskite solar cells (Perovskites) patents is reviewed and analyzed in an international context.
