The traditional gig economy has been transforming to the Internet gig economy, thus entering a new “gig age”. In addition to the empowerment of the digital economy, the emergence of the Covid-19 has also pushed the development of the gig economy. However, while many opportunities have emerged, the gig economy has also faced with different challenges from many parties. This article mainly discusses the status and impact of the new gig economy in the context of the Covid-19, analyzes the development trend, opportunities and challenges of the gig economy in the post-epidemic era, and proposes countermeasures and suggestions on how to promote the healthy and sustainable development of the gig economy.
