Firstly, the article analyzes the effect of information technology on improving the effectiveness of ideological and political courses. On this basis, it analyzes and summarizes the problems existing in the current information technology teaching, and puts forward the strategies to improve the effectiveness of ideological and political teaching. The traditional ideological and political theory courses adopt \"indoctrination\" teaching, and the teaching content is single and the teaching mode is unchanged. Information technology teaching methods can visualize abstract theories. The ideological and political curriculum contains many abstract concepts and principles. These principles are also the basis for the smooth development of the entire ideological and political curriculum. Therefore, students must learn to understand and analyze these principles in order to accurately grasp the essence of the ideological and political curriculum. Information technology is a computer technology that includes graphics, sound, animation, video and other technologies. The biggest advantage of information technology is the ability to transform difficult text content in an image and direct way. This all-round display method can get rid of the information transmission method that relies only on teachers' blackboard and oral communication in the past, and students can be in a richer and more interesting form.
