AMICAL starts with a behavioral specification given in VHDL and generates a structural description that may feed existing silicon compilers acting at the logic and register transfer levels. AMICAL is an interactive tool, meaning that different solutions can be rapidly obtained by carrying out varied manual interventions. Several architectural solutions have been generated by means of the AMICAL system.
