Departing from the confusion created between the notions of research and teaching, I contend that the postgraduation level is not “the” space for research in management in Brazil, but a place to teach how to perform the research. I present during my reasoning how this confusion creates distortions in the Brazilian management postgraduate programs as well as in the assessment system coordinated by the Brazilian Coordination for the Improvement of Higher Level -or Education- Personnel (as known as CAPES).
