In the scientific community, the generally accepted vision of indicators of physical development of children and adolescents as indicators of health has gained a dimension. Timely detection of functional disorders and initial forms of diseases of the musculoskeletal system in young athletes, as well as their prevention and correction, are of primary importance. Today's relevance of the problem of unfixed violations of the musculoskeletal system of athletes is revealed by the results of scientific research devoted to the determination of the peculiarities of violations of the biomechanics of the posture and foot of young athletes, representatives of various sports. The purpose of the article is to determine the goniometric indicators of the body and develop averaged models of the state of the biogeometric profile of the posture of young basketball players. Research methods: analysis and generalization of special scientific literature, pedagogical testing, methods of mathematical statistics. Work results. The use of reference data for basketball players with normal posture as one of the possible strategies for comparing the physical development of young basketball players due to the lack of access to normative values was carried out according to a sequential procedure which consists of 3 steps. The first step is comparison with the standard, when the results of young basketball players with normal posture were compared with standard data for those indicators which have standards. This made it possible to evaluate the differences of this group from the commonly used norms in isolation for three angular indicators. The second step is to compare the results of sportsmen with distorted posture of different types with the results of basketball players with normal posture for indicators which have no normative values. This made it possible to assess whether there are significant differences between different typological groups for indicators that do not have normative values. The third step is the generalization of the results of comparisons regarding the physical development of basketball players based on somatoscopic indicators. This strategy will help to use the available data and draw valid conclusions without having access to normative values for all indicators.
