Design and Analysis of Dual-Core D-Shape Photonic Crystal Fiber Biosensor
In this paper, a simple D-shape photonic crystal fiber (PCF) plasmonic biosensor is proposed and analyzed. The sensor performance is investigated by applying a mode solver based finite element method (FEM). The sensing layer and plasmonic metal (gold) layer both are deposited on the external upper plane surface for comfortable and easy fabrication. The sensor exhibits the maximum sensitivity of 8000 nm/RIU and 522 RIU-1, and resolution of 1.25×10-5 RIU and 1.92×10-5 RIU using the wavelength and amplitude interrogation method, respectively, in the detection range between 1.45 and 1.48. Owing to the simple design and highly sensitive characteristics, the proposed biosensor can be precisely applicable for biomolecular analytes detection.
