Abstract

The objective of this study was to analyze the nature of mathematical tasks that include algebraic thinking in a collection of textbooks for the literacy cycle (1st to 3rd grade), adopted by a municipality in the interior of the state of Mato Grosso do Sul, Brazil. The theoretical framework involves the insertion of algebra in the curriculum of the early years and the definition of algebraic thinking. The methodology is qualitative, descriptive and analytical, analyzing the collection "The Conquest of Mathematics".
