The Relationship between Core Stability and Naraechagi Kicks Velocity in Amateur Taekwondo Players: An Investigation
To win in taekwondo need to be able to kick faster and among the factors that influence velocity, core stability is important, but the relationship between core stability and kicking velocity in taekwondo is unclear. The aim of this study was to investigate the association between core stability and lower limb segmental COM velocity at the moment of kick. A total of 13 subjects (male. 172.6±7.3 cm. 64.3±11.78 kg. 2 9±4 years.) participated in this study. Data were captured using 13 infrared cameras at 120Hz, kinematic data were obtained using the motive motion capture system, the data were exported to Visual3D to calculate the centre of mass velocity of the left lower limbs segment at the moment of the kick, the level of core stability was measured using the Sahrmann core stability test and finally the two were analysed using Spearman rank correlation correlation. During the Naraechagi, most of the lower limb segments COM with SCST showed a strong correlation. Therefore, we believe that adding core stability training to taekwondo training has the potential to increase kicking speed. Future research may focus on the effects of stability training.
