The Arkaim settlement is an outstanding site of the steppe Eurasia of the Bronze Age. The second part of the manuscript presents the results of excavations of the defensive structures and the public area of the site. The presented materials illustrate the external and internal lines of defence in the form of walls and ditches, the studied entrances to the settlement, its streets and the features of the central square arrangement. In the fi nal part of the manuscript, Arkaim is characterized as an integral archaeological and architectural ensemble. The book is aimed at archaeologists, historians, students, and community members interested in exploring and preserving the ancient heritage of Eurasia.

The fortifi ed settlement Arkaim is an outstanding site of the Bronze Age Eurasian steppes. The monograph presents the results of archaeological excavations of the Arkaim housing complex. The description of each dwelling includes its general characteristics, reconstruction elements, data on archaeological fi nds and their distribution. The results of geophysical studies are also presented. The authors characterize the features of settlement cultural layer and describe the history of its multidisciplinary research. The presented materials are part of the author’s general conception of the Arkaim settlement as an archaeological and architectural ensemble. The publication is addressed to archaeologists, historians, region historians, studying youth, members of the public interested in studying and preserving the ancient heritage of steppe Eurasia.
