Avulsion is complete displacement of tooth from its alveolar socket. Immediate replantation is the best choice at the site of accident. When replantation is not possible, it should be kept in a storage medium. The storage media keeps periodontal cells with less damage to be able to regenerate and attach and prevents root resorption. The medium selected as a storage medium should be easily available and have adequate osmolality, appropriate PH, nutritional metabolites, and fair price and should not have bacterial content. In literature, different storage medium are suggested, including those containing Hanks balanced salt solution (HBSS), natural products such as water, Aloe Vera, propolis, pomegranate juice, coconut juice, green tea, egg white, milk (whole, low-fat and skimmed milk, butter milk, soy milk, probiotic milk, pasteurized milk, and mixture of egg white and milk), rehydration solutions such as ringer lactate serum, cell culture medium such as eagle culture medium or EMT (emergency medical treatment) tooth saver, medical media used for keeping organs such as viaspan, commercial media such as GC Tooth Mousse, growth factor treatment, and laser irradiation before tooth replantation. Due to studies limitations and heterogeneous data, nothing is recognized as an ideal medium.

Introduction: Breech presentation is one of the most abnormal presentations of fetus at term pregnancy, and cesarean delivery is performed in most cases. Positioning techniques is one of the methods which is recommended to turn breech presentation into cephalic presentation. This study was performed with aim to determine the effect of knee-chest position on breech presentation turning to cephalic presentation in pregnant women. Methods: This randomized clinical trial was conducted on 84 pregnant women with breech presentation and gestational age of 34-36 years referred to health centers of Mashhad in 2016-2017. The subjects were randomly divided into intervention and control groups. The intervention group, in addition to routine prenatal care, performed knee-chest position for 10-15 minutes for ten days, three times daily. The control group received routine care. The data collection tool was personal characteristics and midwifery information form, recording the mother's knee-chest position, and follow-up form. The fetus presentation was screened immediately after intervention and during delivery in both groups. Data were analyzed using SPSS software (version 23), independent t-test, Chi-square, Fisher exact test, Mann-Whitney test and logistic regression. P < 0.05 was considered statistically significant. Results: The results of logistic regression showed that immediately after the intervention, the mothers of the intervention group had 3.8 times of the chances of fetus presentation turning to cephalic than the women in the control group (confidence interval: 1.467-16.415, OR=3.8, P=0.01). Also, this chance was 3.43 times during delivery (confidence interval: 1.095-10.745, OR=3.43, P=0.034). Conclusion: The mother’s knee-chest positioning can turn breech presentation to cephalic. Therefore, it is recommended to use this position along with other prenatal care for qualified mothers in health care centers.

Background and Purpose: Ascorbic acid an antioxidant vitamin is found throughout the mammalian central nervous system (CNS). There is evidence that it may modulate neuronal activity, release of neurotransmitters and dopamine receptors activities. There are behavioral evidences supporting the antidopaminergic effect of ascorbic acid. This effect of ascorbic acid may in part modulates the stereotyped behaviors-induced by dopaminergic system. The purpose of the present study was to determine the interaction between ascorbic acid and the stereotyped licking behavior in rat. Materials and Methods: In the present study, effects of ascorbic acid and different dopamine receptor antagonists on apomorphine-induced licking behavior were examined. For the induction of licking, the dose of 0.5 mg/kg, s.c. of apomorphine was used and the number of licking was recorded over a 75 min period. Results: Ascorbic acid (200-350 mg/kg, s.c.) dose-dependently reduced the licking behavior. Subcutaneous injection of ascorbic acid (250 mg/kg, ED61) potentates the inhibitory effect of dopamine D1 receptor antagonist, SCH 23390 (0.5 and 1 mg/kg, i.p.) but did not alter the inhibitory effect of dopamine D2 receptor antagonist, sulpiride (25 and 50 mg/kg, s.c.). Conclusion: These results suggest that the inhibitory effect of ascorbic acid on apomorphine-induced licking behavior is mediated by dopamine D2 receptor mechanisms.
