Corrosion of metallic fasteners in low-sloped roofs 低坡屋顶金属紧固件的腐蚀

The extent and causes of corrosion of carbon and stainless steel fasteners were surveyed by means of questionnaires distributed to installers, manufacturers of roofing materials and fasteners, and roofing consultants. Conclusions of this survey were used to determine causes of corrosion and define future needs for monitoring the problem, research needed for development of more corrosion-resistant fasteners, and the requirement for accelerated corrosion and abrasion tests

Evaluating ductile iron pipe corrosion 球墨铸铁管腐蚀评定

The failure of ductile iron pipe due to external corrosion is not a new or recent phenomenon. Recently, an increasing number of corrosion failures on these pipelines have resulted in the need to analyze their cause and take proactive measures. This paper reviews comprehensive failure evaluations and overall ductile iron pipeline evaluations that provide critical data regarding the anticipated remaining life of the water main and the probability of future failures. Informed decisions relevant to pipe rehabilitation and replacement programs can be formulated, lessons regarding the installation of more corrosion resistant replacement pipelines or pipe sections can be learned, and resources can be effectively directed to high risk areas in the water system.

Metal dusting of nickel-based alloys 镍基合金的金属粉尘

The carburization behavior of nine commercial nickel-based alloys and four iron-nickel-chromium alloys was investigated at 650°C in a carburizing carbon monoxide (CO)-H 2 hydrogen oxide (H 2 O) gas with a carbon activity (a c ) of a c > 1. The iron-nickel-chromium alloys suffered severe metal dusting after a very short test period. Nickel-based alloys were generally less susceptible to metal dusting than iron-based alloys. Nickel-based alloys with chromium concentrations of 25% and above, on the other hand, showed no significant evidence of metal dusting even after 10,000 h of exposure. It was found that these alloys were protected against metal dusting by the formation of a dense, self-healing chromia scale, which prevented the penetration of carbon into the base metal.

Offshore pressure maintenance programs involve handling large quantities of seawater in predominantly carbon steel systems. Problems such as effect of the seawater on the formation, corrosion, and deterioration of materials of construction caused by seawater, scaling, oxygen corrosion, and bacteria must be solved. This article addresses problems encountered in the North Sea in operating a seawater injection system and presents solutions to these problems.
