Due to environmental concerns, operators are often required to dispose their produced saltwater into disposals, i.e., SWD wells. The key challenge is that the saltwater contains varieties of damaging species with compositions varying batch-wise. In addition, the compelled turbulence during pumping worsens the situation further. As the results of constant formation damage and lack of turbulence-taming measure, SWD wells frequently experience rapid pressure escalation during operation, which is a major hurdle holding back this industry. In this report, we walk through the identification of key issues facing SWD, followed by the proposal of a prospective solution. The solution consists of primarily a real-time well stimulation via turbulence control with a non-damaging friction reducer that works essentially in all common oilfield brines. The qualification and screening of this friction reducer, as a technique to fight against formation damage via turbulence control, is described, followed by the corroboration with field results.

Water saturation measurements over time are useful for tracking reservoir depletion, and diagnosing production problems such as water production that is one of the main challenges facing oil and gas producers. It is necessary to manage water production to enhance oil production. In cased hole evaluation, cased hole resistivity finds it utility in two circumstances; as a first resistivity measurement in old and new wells to assess the formation in present conditions, or as a time-lapse technique to describe temporal behaviour of reservoir dynamic and reservoir fluids movements to mainly detect bypassed oil zones and water invaded zones. Five case studies of mature reservoirs suffer from water production problems attributed to different geological and reservoir conditions. In all cases, the remedial workover operations based on the cased hole resistivity results have allowed a significant enhancement of the oil production and the implementation of an optimum field management strategy.

Drilling operations have proven that the Chang 8 oil group is the main hydrocarbon reservoir in Zhenjing area. Most of the sands in this zone are from distributary channels. However, the distribution and characterisation of channel are still unknown. This paper mainly discusses the seismic characterisation of channel of delta front in C8 member Zhenjing oil field, Ordos Bassin. The study area is located at the southwest part of the Ordos Basin and covers an area of 1,150 km2. Both major and small channels in the C8 member were interpreted. Twenty-six wells are drilled in our study area. They allowed us as well to interpret the channels which were our main target. In this study, four layers were fundamentally our interest: 'Y10', 'C6', 'C7' and 'C8'. The interpretation of channels was only studied in the area between 'C7' and 'C8' horizons. This work is the result issued by the study and interpretation of real data from the study area. The information and knowledge provided in this research paper will help and contribute a lot to understand more about the geological conditions of the study area.

In integrated models, reservoirs and production systems have many variables that make problems difficult to solve. This work complements a suggested methodology to reduce the number of design and operational parameters to obtain a good performance of the field production. We evaluated and validated the applied methodology for a different benchmark case, checking possibilities of extension to other cases. The case study considered a carbonate reservoir benchmark similar to a Brazilian pre-salt case. We evaluated the combination of several parameters through a decoupled sensitivity analysis for production system, selecting those which promoted greater impacts on production to be evaluated and selected in an integrated sensitivity analysis leading to an improvement in the field productivity and net present value. Sensitivity analyses were relevant to reduce the number of variables for robust optimisation problems through the reduction of the search space, favouring the decrease of the computational time and discontinuity problems.

Selection of friction reducer for slickwater fracturing to achieve both fracking robustness and production maximisation 为滑溜水压裂选择减摩剂,实现压裂稳健性和产量最大化
Pub Date : 1900-01-01 DOI: 10.1504/ijpe.2020.10039463

Fracking robustness and production maximisation are the ultimate pursuits of slickwater fracturing. The former requires an 'all-weather' applicability of slickwater, whereas the latter dictates the fluid to be non-damaging to reservoir formation. Since friction reducer (FR) is the mere indispensable component of slickwater, the requirements for fluid essentially translate for this FR. In this report, an attempt is made to describe experimentally and comparatively the outcomes of FR screening based upon current industrial practices, which are often contradictory in nature, followed by the author's opinions and recommendations. Two commercially available FRs, with distinctive properties, were chosen for demonstration. Regarding fracking robustness, the assessments include a series of compatibility and friction flow loop examinations. The aspects of production maximisation are elucidated through core flood regained perm, proppants pack elution and filtration through porous media experiments. A simplified FR selection guide is proposed with its validity corroborated by field results.

Gravitational sorption method for extraction of vanadium-containing oil from reservoirs with the use of redox polymers 利用氧化还原聚合物的重力吸附法从储层中提取含钒油

The article considers the possibility of extraction of residual oil reserves, based on the use of previously drilled wells and creation of conditions for drainage of formation fluid into production wells due to gravity forces and sorption processes of vanadium interaction in oil with injected redox polymers. The article makes a significant contribution to world science when studying the processes of extracting residual oil reserves from reservoirs and metals from liquid media, including oil. As a result of the analysis of the proposed method of extraction, the authors for the first time prove that the technology under consideration allows increasing the oil recovery factor and expand the scope of redox polymers when extracting oil from seams and associated metals. The proposed redox polymers have improved physico-chemical, oxidation-reduction and sorption-kinetic properties. Their application will allow solving the actual problem of import substitution of expensive foreign products for oil production. This makes it possible to implement integrated development of such oil fields as Buzachi and others with the extraction of associated metals and to improve the quality of oil and oil products.
