People management has always been a challenge for all organizations, and during the pandemic period, there was an increase in its complexity. Technologies and information systems are one of the tools to mitigate this issue. This article presents a case study of a tool implementation based on People Analytics in a large mining company. Several organizational tools to measure project efficiency have been applied during the implementation of this tool, such as PDCA, 5W2H, SWOT, Organizational Charts, flowcharts among others. The positive impact of this approach on the management system of the company has provided improvements in various aspects. For instance, improvements were observed in the management of data and indicators, responsibilities and processes in the company. The work that was carried out showed the potential capacity of the tool which contributed to the decision-making process based on strategies of the studied organization. In addition, potentialities, based on data analysis with a focus on people management, were observed. One of the examples was a campaign action called “Yellow September” in 2021 (Suicide Prevention), which was disseminated to the entire HR team in order to keep the staff alert about the internal analytical data on the subject, benchmarking tools and analytics techniques to learn about the behavior of the employees.

In the face of a competitive scenario, quality management assumes an important role by presenting itself as a strategy capable of helping organizations to achieve the expected results. In this context, the present work analyzes the processes of a small beverage distributor, in order to find bottlenecks and propose improvement solutions. The concepts and theories are based on organizational tools and on the stages of the planning phase of the PDCA cycle: problem identification, observation, analysis and, finally, the action plan. The study begins with the identification of the problem through technical visits and interviews with the manager. Then, in the observation phase, organizational tools were applied to improve processes and reduce losses. Finally, the organization and standardization of data contributed to improving inventory management, managing the billing process of the company and drawing up future strategic plans using technologies for data management and scenario simulation. The simulations used Petri Nets, a structure defined in the literature, for their representation and application. This case study is a demonstration of the management optimization potential of a small entrepreneur, in the Brazilian market, where the recovery of control of its processes during the pandemic period is demonstrated.

The present work aims to compare the reading techniques of Flame Atomic Absorption and Microwave Plasma Atomic Emission Spectrometry. A total of 10 certified samples with the gold levels specified were chosen. After quantifying the gold content in the sampels of interest, the results were transcribed into tables, where the relative error of each of the samples in relation to the certified values and the coefficient of variation of the three aliquots of each standard were also calculated. The study certified the high rate of gold recovery through the Fire Assay and revealed the better performance of MP-AES in relation to FAAS under the reading conditions established by the authors, according to the existing scientific literature. It is concluded that the MP-AES has enough potential to be an alternative, or even to replace instruments commonly used in the quantification of elements, such as gold, provided that more studies emerge to test and prove its superiority.

The exponential growth of industries makes energy efficiency a key factor to be considered, especially in industries that relies on equipment with a high demand of electrical power. Therefore, an analysis of device efficiency is one of the premises of the evolution of industrial equipment. A condenser is an equipment present in cooling systems that are used in small, medium and large organizations. Research and studies on the efficiency of this type of equipment becomes relevant, especially in countries that experience blackouts that reach cities and states, such as Brazil. In the present work, a case study of a local supermarket that uses industrial refrigeration systems was carried out, in which the performance of a control of an ON-OFF vs PID system was evaluated. After collecting the specific parameters of the fans, it was found that the control via PID became more efficient than the ON-OFF, with a considerably lower power consumption of about 26.35%, resulting in greater use of electrical energy and considerable savings for the organization.
