La historia militar de nuestro país se ha visto enmarcada en varios aspectos generadores de cambio, de la misma manera la historia de las escuelas de formación militar, las cuales han estado sujetas a una gran cantidad de transformaciones, teniendo en cuenta que durante gran parte del siglo XIX se buscaba la consolidación de una Escuela Militar, fue hasta inicios del siglo XX que se logró el afianzamiento de una escuela de orden castrense encargada de la instrucción militar y la formación académica para los oficiales del Ejército Nacional. Es así como el 1° de junio de 1907 tuvo lugar la fundación de la Escuela Militar de Cadetes, bajo la dirección de los capitanes chilenos Arturo Ahumada Bascuñán en el cargo de Director y Diego Guillen Santana como Subdirector, integrantes de la misión extranjera traída por el General Rafael Uribe Uribe y el Arzobispo Primado Monseñor Bernardo Herrera Restrepo, bajo el mandato presidencial del entonces General Rafael Reyes Prieto. La primera sede estuvo ubicada en el costado occidental de la Plaza de Ayacucho, antiguo convento de San Agustín, en el centro de la capital del país. Th e military condemnations of Colombian Army o ffi cers have had di ff erent nuances, given the complexity of some cases; so this topic becomes an element of internal re fl ection to recognize the experience and the e ff ects of these processes. In this sense, some cases of military convictions are recounted, describing their main e ff ects. Th e present chapter at no time intends to carry out a legal analysis of the cases, but to present in a descriptive manner the main e ff ects, especially at the social level and the place of the Military Sciences in this study. Th is chapter is associated to a degree work of the Faculty of Military Sciences.

This chapter responds to the approach formulated between military education and institutional history, evidenced in the operational component, which projects the understanding of the military being, the adoption of strategies and tactics for the fulfillment of the constitutional mission. Similarly, this learning also aims to provide important elements to avoid legal problems to the members of the force.
