A simple method is proposed to measure the large signal permittivity and loss tangent of ferroelectric films. Measured, at zero DC bias, large signal dielectric properfies are used to develop scaleable large signal circuit models of ferroelectric varactors. The model is useful for zero bias mixer (up and downconverter) and harmonic generator applications of ferroelectric varactors.

A transition between an NRD guide, suitable for construction of high performance millimeter-wave integrated circuits, and B microstrip line, being used to mount semiconductor devices such as HEMT, HET, and MMIC, was developed at 60 GHz. Main emphasis was placed on a manner of field matching behveen the NRD guide and microstrip line. We proposed a new transition structure using a vertical strip line, having easy coupling performance to the NRD guide, and a coaxial line, being used to connect with the microstrip line. Moreover, we devised a new packaging structure of the microstrip line to prevent undesired leakage between the NRD guide and microstrip line. The insertion loss of the fabricated transition was measured to be less than 0.5 dB in the bandwidth of3 GHz at a center frequency of 60.5 GHz. The transition was applied to MMIC amplifier integration in the NRD guide at 60 GHz. The forward and reverse gains were measured to be 15 dB and -20 dB, respectively, at 60 GHz.

A novel asymmetric tapered-line power divider is presented. It has several strip resistors which are formed like a ladder between the tapered-line conductors to achieve a good output isolation. The equivalent circuits are derived with the even/oddmode analysis. The fabricated asymmetric power divider with 1:2 power dividing ratio shows broadband performances in return loss and isolation which are greater than 20 dB over a 3:l bandwidth in the C-K bands.

This paper provides an overview of two recently completed SAR studies at Astrium together with a summary of the capabilities of the TSX (TerraSAR-X) satellite. The two studies: HRWS (high resolution wide swath radar) and LCMA (low cost multifeed antenna) are concerned with novel antenna beam forming concepts for the SAR imaging modes. The pros and cons are discussed and compared with TSX - a SAR with an active phased array antenna.
本文概述了Astrium最近完成的两项SAR研究,并总结了TSX (TerraSAR-X)卫星的能力。HRWS(高分辨率宽幅雷达)和LCMA(低成本多馈源天线)两项研究关注的是SAR成像模式下新的天线波束形成概念。讨论了其优缺点,并与带有有源相控阵天线的TSX - a SAR进行了比较。

In this paper, a novel resonator consisting of one half-wave transmission line and the resistive attenuator is proposed to build BPF (bandpass filter) with good stop-hand suppression. The resonance characteristics of this type of resonator are intuitive through the ABCD matrix analysis. By means of utilizing the conventional design methodology for parallel coupled-line based BPF, the newly proposed filters can he easily realized by inserting attenuator in coupled-line filter. Tu confirm the validity of the technique, filters of orders-2 BPF centered at 2.25 GHz with a 5% FBW (Fractional Bandwidth) and orders9 BPF centered at 2.05 GHz with a 12% FBW were used. Successfully, filters in this paper revealed the tndsp urious response of at least 30 dB insertion loss.

We report on the analysis and design of a Photonic BandGap coplanar waveguide (CPW) that jointly exhibits pulse compression and superluminal group velocity in the so-called anomalous dispersion region for a Gaussian modulated signal. The coupling of an analytical analysis method with an optimization algorithm enables the design of a coplanar PBG to reach the specified function. Measurements confirm our simulation data and the relevance of our approach. Further to these experiments, a discussion on snperlnminal velocity fundamentals is proposed.
