Success lies at the heart of every organization’s ability to innovate, innovation is one of the most important strategies of competition, both for large and small firms, it is widely held in the literature and among practitioners that small and medium enterprises (SME) are instrumental in the economic development of countries worldwide. However, the contribution of SMEs can only be possible through performance. This study is a conceptual discussion of manufacturing SME performance in Yemen and the effect of strategic innovation. The performance is considered to be very low, andthe country is ranked by the Global Innovation Index as one the lowest in terms of innovation. The study discusses strategic innovation and presents a framework for understanding the concept in 10 different ways. It concludes by recommending some policiesthrough which the government of Yemen can assist manufacturing SMEs. Specifically, the study recommends that the government should provide training subsidies to manufacturing SMEs because innovation can only take place when human resources are adequately trained.

Malaysia has an abundance of biomass resources that can be utilised for power generation. One of them is paddy residue. Paddy residue creates ahuge potential in the power generation sector. The consumption of paddy residue can help Malaysia become less dependent on conventional sources of energy, mitigate greenhouse gas(GHG) emission, offer positive feedback in the economic sector, and at the same time, provide thebest solution for waste management activities. The forecast datafor 20 years on electricity generation wasused to calculate the GHG emission and its saving when paddy residue is used for electricity generation. The government’scost saving was also identified when paddy residue substituted coal fuel in electricity generation. This paper can provide forecast information so that Malaysia is able to move forward to apply paddy residue as feedstock in energy supply. Hopefully, the data achieved can encourage stakeholder bodies in the implementation of paddy residue inelectricity generation since there is apositive impact towardscost and emission saving.

This paper conceptualizes the role of work engagement as mediationon the relationship between religious spirituality and job performance of Muslim employees in Malaysia. Religious spirituality involves the belief in the existence of God and the power of prayer as a way of communicating with God in all aspects of life. Religious spirituality encourages individuals to mends the relationship between God and human (habluminallah) as well as the relationship between human beings (habluminannas) in order to be able to deal with hardship and obtains long-term satisfaction. The ability of an employee to overcome any hardship will enhance their work engagement and job performance. Thus, in response to the impact of religious spirituality in enhancing work engagement and job performance, this study developseveral propositions that demonstrate the significant role of related variables in enhancing job performance. Suggestions for future research and implications of the study for managers are presented. This study recommends management and human resource practitioners to be proactive and formulate preventive strategyagainst low productivity among Muslim employees by providestraining, create an environment that supports wholeness, meaningful work, and feeling of inner satisfaction. However, there is needfor empirical studies to test the proposed relationships.

Job turnover is traditionally faced by organisations in many industries. Implications such as resources wastage and low productivity can be derivedfrom the turnoverissue. The turnoverintention was found to be a reliable predictor for actual turnover in previous studies. Consequently, this demands some insights on turnover intention issue, especiallywithin the Malaysiancontext. This paper will focus on determiningthe relationship oftransactional leadership styles on turnover intention among manufacturing operators, particularlyin Electrical and Electronics sub-sector. The study was conductedamongst the operators of manufacturing industry in Peninsular Malaysia (N=800). Consideringthat Malaysia manufacturing industry has shown a strongeconomic growth through substantialinvestment in economic activities, it is essentialfor all manufacturing companies to retain talented employees and reduce the turnoverproblem in order tobe moreproductive and competitive. The findings had accepted the research hypothesis. Dimensions of transactional leadership styles (i.e. contingent rewards, management-by-exception passive) significantly correlated and contributed to the turnover intention. Thefindings hadcontributed to the theoretical significance through the examination of direct relationships between transactional leadership styles on turnover intention among local operators in the manufacturingsector in Malaysia.

The aim of the present study is to explore the implementation ofsustainable manufacturing practice in Malaysian manufacturing firms. Inspecific, there are three research questions that guide the study such as: (i) which type of sustainable manufacturing practice is being implemented by the studied firms?;(ii) why do the studied firmstend to implement sustainable manufacturing practice in theiroperations?;and (iii) what are the impacts of implementing sustainable manufacturing practice on the firms. An electrical and electronic firm located in Penang was chosen as the study sample, and the data was collectedfrom the firmby using semi-structured questions.A manager who had both technical and management knowledge and experience inoperational and business activitiesin the chosen firm was interviewed. The interview was recorded, transcribed, and analysedbased on the research questions.Thefindings of the present study discover the varioustypes of sustainable manufacturing practices beingimplemented by the firm, two drivers (i.e. internal and external drivers) that motivate the firm to implement sustainable manufacturing practice, andthe impacts of sustainable manufacturing implementation in the aspect of economic, environmental, and social sustainability of the firm. The present study is very useful as it offers some theoretical and practical contributions.

This paper presents a real case study to determine the optimal tourist route at Langkawi Island. The Langkawi Island was selected as thecase study because normally, tourist travel to this island will drive the rented car as the primary mode of transport. Thus, the aim of this paper is to develop a mathematical model to find an optimal route for tourist to travel to their interesting places around Langkawi Island. In order to solve the problem, Greedy method was applied in this study and MATLAB version 7.8 has been used to get the solution. The result obtained shows that Nearest Greedy Insertion method gives better result compared to the Nearest Greedy method. The minimum value of the route selection gives effect to the cost of travelling. Therefore, from this study, the best route that connect from one interesting place to others place can be suggested to the tourist as guidance. In addition, tourist can save their time and money to visit all interesting places in this study.

Employees’ attitudes towards change and organizational performance are extremely interrelated each other hence approving that the performance of organization is exaggerated through the attitudes of employees towards change. The literature shows that successful organizational change and performance are determined by the willingness to embrace change. Thus, the purpose of this paper is to discuss the conceptualization of change attitudes including readiness and openness towards change, and cynicism about organizational change in responding to change initiative which therefore impacts the outcomes and performance of organization.
