The sixth edition of Handbook of Local Anesthesia by Stanley F. Malamed is a well organised review of dental anaesthesia eight years after the publication of the previous edition. It is arranged in four sections dealing with the drugs used, the armamentarium needed to perform dental regional anaesthesia, the techniques of regional anaesthesia and legal complications surrounding the practice. Each of these sections is then divided into a number of chapters which cover the topics in great detail. The chapters are well written and the information presented with many accompanying colour photographs and diagrams. There are also several quick reference tables providing clear and easy access to important information.
