USE OF COMPETENCIES IN DIGITAL LEARNING OBJECTS AMONG TEACHERS IN THE BASIC EDUCATION STAGE IN THE ASIR REGION 阿西尔地区基础教育阶段教师对数字化学习对象胜任力的使用

The purpose of this research is to quantify the level of using competencies in digital learning objects among teachers in the basic education stage in the Asir region and the importance of statistical disparities in competence across years of experience and educational qualifications. The researchers used a descriptive design and quantitative approach, with the questionnaire acting as the major data collection instrument, to achieve the study’s goals. 297 male teachers from Asir region basic education stage schools were the study population. Basic education stage school teachers in the Asir region scored highly on the measures of competencies in using a computer, competencies for designing digital activities, competencies of using global network resources, and competencies dealing with cloud event storage. The findings also showed that basic education stage teachers’ views on competencies of digital learning objects were unrelated to demographic factors such as years of experience or level of education. TEACHING PRACTICE AND LEARNING DIFFICULTIES IN LIFE AND EARTH SCIENCES IN SECONDARY SCHOOLS IN MOROCCO 摩洛哥中学生命和地球科学的教学实践和学习困难

In the Moroccan educational system, the secondary school curriculum places great emphasis on experimental science. Therefore, to improve student learning in these scientific subjects, it is necessary to analyze teaching practice and assess student learning to detect learning difficulties. In this context, our study seeks to determine the impact of life and earth sciences teachers’ teaching practices on the emergence of learning difficulties. Its aims are to analyze teaching practices, identify the learning difficulties of secondary school students in the Life and Earth Sciences, and identify the links between teaching practices and students’ learning difficulties. To achieve this, we conducted a survey using two research tools. The first is the observation of teaching practice using an observation grid, which represents the essential dimensions (relational, pedagogical and didactic). The second tool is a questionnaire designed for college and qualifying high school teachers, which includes questions about their practices and the learning difficulties encountered by their students. The results revealed that students may encounter difficulties in acquiring scientific concepts in Life and Earth Sciences because of the teaching practice adopted and/or the language of instruction, and that most teachers adapt their teaching practice to the didactic tools and teaching aids made available to them without considering their students’ learning styles and rhythms. Consequently, effective teaching practices have an impact on student learning, and improving classroom conditions can remedy students’ learning difficulties. In conclusion, proper management of the various dimensions of the teaching–learning situation represents a good teaching practice. The present study investigates the digital divide in Saudi Arabia and Jordan through the lens of social informatics, a field that explores the interplay between individuals and their diverse electronic media. This study employs a mixed-methods approach, encompassing the collection and analysis of both qualitative and quantitative data. The primary objective of this study is to enhance comprehension of the status of access to information and communication technology (ICT) and digital literacy in developing countries. The research has revealed numerous obstacles in accessing ICT resources, including but not limited to insufficient internet infrastructure and exorbitant costs. There are discrepancies in digital literacy, with factors such as age, education, and socioeconomic status being influential. Social factors such as the disparity between genders and the divide between urban and rural areas serve to intensify the digital divide. The adoption of ICT is subject to the influence of individuals’ attitudes and beliefs about technology and their concerns regarding personal privacy and the potential erosion of cultural traditions. This study acknowledges the importance of governmental initiatives and policies in bridging the digital divide; however, it also poses questions regarding their effectiveness and implementation. ROAD VULNERABILITY ASSESSMENT IN THE CASE OF A SEISMIC EVENT 地震情况下道路易损性评估

Roads often suffer significant damage following an earthquake, which can be attributed to various factors. This study aims to identify and quantify these factors and provide an estimation of the vulnerability index for the studied road section. The vulnerability index enables the classification of a section based on its vulnerability. To achieve this, we propose an estimation method for the seismic vulnerability index of a road, which uses the Analytic Hierarchy Process (AHP) to determine the weights of the identified parameters. The resulting vulnerability index value facilitates the classification of the road section using the proposed scale. Additionally, we present several case studies that validate the obtained results, aligning with seismic feedback. Moreover, a seismic scenario was simulated on an urban network using a geographic information system (GIS) to predict the seismic behavior of the road network in the target city. A PROPOSED VISION FOR PLANNING SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT IN SAUDI ARABIAN UNIVERSITIES IN LIGHT OF VISION 2030 根据2030年愿景规划沙特阿拉伯大学可持续发展的建议愿景

This study explores possible visions for enhancing sustainability programs in universities in the manner that the initiatives will achieve Kingdom’s Vision 2030. This is the primary aim of this research. Using the survey strategy, 197 participants, who are university lecturers and non-academic staff, were drawn from different universities across Saudi Arabia. A questionnaire was used to gain their insights on the topic. Analysis was conducted using relevant statistical measures, including the calculation of percentile values, mean, and standard deviation. The results offered greater insights into the attitudes of stakeholders toward sustainable development in the universities surveyed. The data indicate that the participants have a positive attitude toward sustainable development. The areas the schools have focused on in their sustainability programs include the integration of sustainable development policies in their curriculum, entrenching sustainability practices in students’ engagement, and the use of research initiatives to advance sustainability practices. The result further indicates that there are actions necessary for universities to take in instituting sustainability practices in their institutions. The findings showed that there is a need to establish units and offices specifically dedicated to supervising sustainability development activities in the school. The stakeholders also suggested that universities should integrate seminars on sustainability into their educational programs, establish strategic partnerships with other organizations aimed at enhancing sustainable development, and make efforts to be an example to other institutions in terms of sustainability programs. As such, it is necessary to expand the discussion of these findings considering vision 2030, which further unveiled how universities have contributed immensely in enhancing the achievability of Vision 2030. APPLICATION OF ARTIFICIAL NEURAL NETWORK (ANN) TO FORECAST THE TREND OF IGNITION DELAY TIMING IN AN ENGINE USING BIODIESEL FUEL 应用人工神经网络(ann)预测生物柴油发动机点火延迟时间趋势

Using the artificial neutral network (ANN) model described in the methodology section, the authors obtained highly promising results. As an example, we illustrate the proposed method by presenting the predictions at compression ratio e = 15 and e = 17, where the ANN model achieved RMSE values of 24.72 (ms) and 32.44 (ms), MSE values of 611.34 and 1052.37, MAPE values of 0.89% and 1.43%, and R2 values of 0.98 and 0.96, respectively. The effectiveness of this new method is further confirmed through rigorous calculations and validation tests on the ANN performance model. The research results from this study not only develop and supplement existing knowledge in the domain but also substantially improve the accuracy of predicting ignition delay times for biodiesel engines. These results can be used to enhance engine performance, optimize the fuel efficiency, and reduce emissions in real-world applications. As an example, we illustrate the proposed method by presenting the predictions at compression ratio e = 15 and e = 17, where the ANN model achieved RMSE values of 24.72 (ms) and 32.44 (ms), MSE values of 611.34 and 1052.37, MAPE values of 0.89% and 1.43%, and R2 values of 0.98 and 0.96, respectively. The effectiveness of this new method is further confirmed through rigorous calculations and validation tests on the ANN performance model.
