Telecottages in Hungary 匈牙利的电信设施

The first telecottage "born" in 1985, was established in Vemdalen, Sweden. The movement arrived in 1994 to Hungary. The telecottage is a rural institution using the modern IT tools (computers, Internet, office automation etc) solving the problems of the local community. The Hungarian telecottage association supports the neighbour countries transporting their experiences founding their first telecottages and their association.

The texture animator 纹理动画器

This paper discusses three distinct techniques for the animation of procedural textures and describes a software tool. Animation is attained by moving the rendered point before the texture evaluation, changing the definition of the texture space or changing the texture colour mapping. Examples are given for textures based on noise and turbulence functions in order to simulate natural phenomena. Some phases of the texture animation process can be automated using a code generator supported by a library of animation effects. Aspects of practical implementation are discussed and Renderman compliant code is presented.

Visualisation techniques for learning and teaching programming 编程学习和教学的可视化技术

This paper describes the programming knowledge and skills that learners need to develop, and concludes that this is an area of computer science education where those involved in the teaching of programming need to further consider the nature, structure and function of domain-specific knowledge. Visualisation techniques may offer important insights into the learning and teaching of programming. It has been argued that conceptual models could serve to enhance learners' conceptual understanding of programming, and we describe how these may effectively be used in the teaching of programming. The methods to enhance the development of accurate mental models include: designing the interface so that users can interact actively with it; using metaphors and analogies to explain concepts; and using spatial relationships so that users can develop capabilities for mental simulations.

On cost allocation in networks with threshold based discounting 基于阈值折扣的网络成本分配研究

We consider network design in which each pair of nodes can communicate via a direct link and the communication flow can be delivered through any path in the network. The cost of flow through each link is discounted if and only if the amount of flow exceeds a certain threshold. This exploitation of economies of scale encourages the concentration of flows and use of a relatively small number of links. We will call such networks hub-like networks. Applications include telecommunications, airline traffic flow, and mail delivery networks. The cost of services delivered through a hub-like network is distributed among its users who may be individuals or organizations with possibly conflicting interests. The cooperation of these users is essential for the exploitation of economies of scale. Consequently, there is a need to find a fair distribution of the cost of providing the service among users of such a network. In order to describe this cost allocation problem we formulate the associated cooperative game, to be referred to as the hub-like game. In this game special attention is paid to users' contribution to economies of scale. We then demonstrate that a certain cost allocation solution (the core of hub-like game), which provide users with the incentive to cooperate, can be efficiently characterized.
