Islamic doctrine provides the worldview, which influences the whole human personality, behaviour, life-style, tastes and preferences and attitudes towards human beings, resources and environment etc. Therefore sustainabledevelopment may be viewed as part of the interwoven framework of Islamic business ethics. This paper discusses the concept of sustainable development in the context of the determination on economic viability, social equality, and environmental development. Efforts are also made to build-up the concept of sustainable development from the Islamic perspective. Apart from these, this paper addresses the problem of whether sustainable development should be viewed as Islamic ethical responsibility for business? To what extent should business be involved in the sustainable development activities? Attributes of the various levels of behaviour of organisation are also examined in the paper.

The meaning which the Dome of the Rock had to its creators has eluded students of Art History and Architecture. But through an interdisciplinary approach involving Art and Architecture, Religious History and Eschatology, the meaning of the Dome of the Rock is shown to be expressed in the connective symbolism shared by the three great monotheistic religions : Judaism, Christianity and Islam. Furthermore, instead of being viewed as a structure in opposition to the Ka'bah at Mekka, the Dome of the Rock is shown to be a complement to it - for as the Ka'bah to Abraham so the Dome of the Rock looks forward to the time of the end when the faith of Abraham will culminate in the final resurrection and judgement.

Le terme tolerance tel que l'entend la tradition occidentale n'a pas de veritable equivalent dans la langue arabe. Quand les musulmans commence a considerer ce sujet face a l'utilisation occidentale, ils utilisent le mot tasamuh dont la racine comporte les notions de generosite et de tranquilite. L'A. eclaire cette differenciation par le fait que contrairement a l'Occident ou la religion est separee de l'Etat, l'Islam considere qu'un musulman est tolerant quand il adhere pleinement aux enseignements du Coran sur la tolerance.

Dans la Bible et le Coran, Adam et Eve constituent le premier couple et sont les precurseurs de la race humaine. Dans les deux recits, le pouvoir de Dieu sur la creation est total. Le dessein de Dieu apparait plus coherent dans le Coran: depuis le tout debut, Dieu sait qu'en vivant sur la terre, Adam et Eve vont creer des problemes. Les deux recits nous donnent une explication des debuts et du destin de la race humaine, des desseins de Dieu sur la terre et de sa grâce.
