This work intends to deal with the theme around emotional intelligence, a phenomenon that is rarely approached by distant health professionals, but very present in the labor relations as a whole, and especially in the public service, the main target group of this research. In recent decades, the important role of sentimental skills and abilities at work has been observed. Increasingly, the work environment has demanded more from its co-workers, in addition to improving the management of organizational demands, thus demanding more than technical skills, but also the emotional control of the public servant, especially the public manager, in effectively dealing with their employees and their employees. the difficulties of daily life. It will be observed that emotional intelligence is related to leadership in the control of emotions and the use of emotional intelligence as a way of helping to adapt to daily eventualities. It will also be evaluated the impact of emotional lack of control over the removal of public servants for work-related mental disorders, which is very common in the public service. Finally, the need for investment in the health of public employees will be addressed in order to improve their quality of life at work. This work was built through the analysis of books and periodicals and conceptual bases on emotional intelligence and absenteeism in the Government.
