Using of radar and geostationary satellites signals for determination of hydrometeors water content 用雷达和地球静止卫星信号测定水成物的含水量

A complex method for hydrometeors water content detecting is studied. The method uses data of size and location of hydrometeors given by radar and signal attenuation obtained by proposed apparatus which receives signals of a geostationary satellite. Theoretical grounds of the method and experimental results are presented. The method is effective for determination of water content of hazardous cumulonimbus clouds and powerful torrential rain clouds.

The paper is a joint work between the LEAT (France) and the ENRI (Japan) in the framework of a Sakura project supported by the JSPS and the French Ministry of Foreign Affairs. The purpose is the study of a FOD (Foreign Object Debris) detection system on airport runways. A FM-CW mm-Wave radar working between 76.25 and 76.75 GHz is used together with a high directivity printed reflectarray. Measurement results show detection capabilities of a -20 tlBsm cylinder up to 35 m which is 10 m less than the FAA recommendations. Antenna improvements are discussed for reaching the requirements and system performance as well as the use of calibration objects.

Study of receiver design in a MIMO SAR configuration MIMO SAR配置接收机设计研究

In this paper, we are concerned on the receiver design and the different imaging possibilities for radar MIMO SAR. The transmission of pseudo-orthogonal waveforms gives many opportunities in reception on how to manage these different signals. We proposed to compare different resolutions and robustness for SAR measurements: SISO and MIMO. Moreover, we developed a SAR processsing based on MIMO configuration by using the stolt interpolation.

Phased-array antenna beam squinting related to frequency dependency of delay circuits 相控阵天线波束斜视与延迟电路的频率依赖性有关

Practical time delay circuits do not have a perfectly linear phase-frequency characteristic. When these delay circuits are applied in a phased-array system, this frequency dependency shows up as a frequency dependent beam direction (“beam squinting”). This paper quantifies beam squinting for a linear one-dimensional phased array with equally spaced antenna elements. The analysis is based on a (frequency-dependent) linear approximation of the phase transfer function of the delay circuit. The resulting relation turns out to be invariant for cascaded cells. Also a method is presented to design time-delay circuits to meet a maximum phased-array beam squinting requirement.

Design of wide-band dual polarized aperture array antennas 宽带双极化孔径阵列天线设计

This paper describes the design of high performance compact aperture array antennas for radio astronomy and other applications. Three recent antenna developments for Square Kilometre Array Design Study (SKADS) have been investigated and the performance are compared. In addition to the Radio Frequency (RF) performance, an essential requirement for the Square Kilometre Array application is the cost per square area. Based on initial large scale finite array studies prototypes with different geometries have been fabricated and measured. Guidelines are derived for large scale wide band dual-polarized array designs in applications where low cross polarization and wide range of scan angles are required.

The paper outlines the operation principles, technical characteristics and the field tests results of the innovative Ka-band radar for airport surface monitoring. Advantages and disadvantages of operation in the Ka-band with respect to a shorter one, i.e. the W-band, are discussed. It is shown that in the Ka-band the coherent operation regime can be realized. Main performance specifications, principle of operation, and design of the innovative antenna developed for the radar are described in details. The results of the field tests confirm the predicted radar operation characteristics.

In this paper, we present the optimal parameters such as the number of coherent integration and non-coherent integration of non-coherent signal detector under the maximum relative velocity of 120km/hr. Also we propose the arctangent frequency difference detection (FDD) algorithm for measuring the Doppler shift. The algorithm has superior capabilities in comparison with the conventional FFT method in the accuracy, the hardware complexity, and the velocity range.
