The background of the problem in this study is the misuse of punctuation marks such as punctuation periods, commas and colons in a sentence, then errors in spelling are found. The results of the study found that every student of the Indonesian Language and Literature Education Study Program, Faculty of Teacher Training and Education, University of Nias Raya had errors in using punctuation, 9 errors in writing a thesis, 8 comma punctuation errors in writing. Through this research it is recommended to; 1) Students to increase curiosity about Indonesian learning because it is related to everyday life. One of the implications of Indonesian learning is the use of punctuation marks that will definitely be used when writing: 2) Lecturers to always remind, motivate, and direct students to study seriously so that they are able to use good and correct Indonesian, both orally and in writing; 3) Nias Raya University Library so that it can facilitate students to be able to study optimally. Such as providing textbooks or stories that can add insight to students; holding writing competitions using good and correct Indonesian and spelling.

The problem with this research is that there are still many problems with capital letters and punctuation in outgoing letters at the Orahili Fondrako village office, Ulususua District. This is supported by initial observations made by researchers. The aims of this research are 1) to describe capital letter errors and 2) to describe punctuation errors in outgoing letters at the Orahili Fondrako village office in 2022. The research method used is qualitative and descriptive. The data collection technique used is documentation. The data source for this research is letters distributed at the Orahili Fondrako village office. Based on the research results, the researcher drew the following conclusions: (,) and period (.). In the Orahili Fondrako Village office, Ulususua District, errors occur due to lack of writing skills, limited dominance of language rules and inaccuracies in writing outgoing letters, therefore it is necessary to be alert to errors in the use of punctuation marks used and correct them when writing letters. This shows that there is an error in using comma punctuation marks such as 2 (two) and 4 (two). four) types of errors in using punctuation 6. Recommendations that can be given include: 1) continuing the use of spelling by educational practitioners, 2) other researchers should conduct further research on this matter. Bluedan 3) Errors are reserved for the teacher, so that students continue to be taught the correct and correct use of spelling.

This research was motivated by the code mixing of the Nias regional language and Indonesian in the conversations of the people of Sisobahili village, Susua District, South Nias Regency. This research aims (1) to describe the forms of code mixing in community conversations in Sisobahili village, Susua District, South Nias Regency (2) to determine the factors behind the occurrence of code mixing in community conversations in Sisobahili village, Susua District, South Nias Regency. The approach used in this research is a qualitative approach with descriptive research type. The research findings obtained by researchers are forms of code mixing in the conversations of the people of Sisobahili village, Susua District, South Nias Regency in the form of words, phrases, bastards, repetition of words, expressions/idioms and factors that cause code mixing in the conversations of the people of Sisobahili village, Susua District, Regency. South Nias in the form of role identification, variety identification, and the desire to explain/interpret. So it can be concluded that the forms of code mixing that occur in the conversations of the people of Sisobahili village, Susua District, South Nias Regency are in the form of words, phrases, bastards, repetition of words and expressions/idioms and the factors causing the emergence of code mixing in the conversations of the people of Sisobahili village, Susua District, South Nias Regency in the form of role identification, variety identification, the desire to explain and interpret, the researcher suggests to students that this research can be used as a basis for further research in the field of sociolinguistics for language teaching, for society, so that this research can increase society's insight or realize that mixed use code can cause the extinction of the Nias regional language, for readers, the use of code mixing is not good when communicating. Everyone should be able to use the correct language or use the real language and let's preserve the Nias regional language so that it doesn't perish and disappear.

KEMAMPUAN MENYIMAK BERITA DENGAN MENGGUNAKAN MEDIA AUDIOVISUAL SISWA 学生利用视听媒体收听新闻的能力

This research was motivated by a problem, namely the low ability to listen to the news of grade VII students, there are still students underestimating listening learning, subject teachers rarely use audiovisual media when listening learning. The purpose of this study is to describe the ability to listen to news using audiovisual media of grade VII students at SMP Negeri 1 Ulususua Learning Year 2022/2023. The population and sample of this study were all grade X students of SMK Negeri 1 Toma totaling 23 people. The result of this study is that all grade VII students Learning Year obtained an average score of 75.25 with the category of quite good in listening to news texts, thus in the ranks of aspects in listening to the news obtained low average scores such as in what aspect, whose aspect, which aspect, when aspect, why aspect, what aspect. The suggestion of this study is (a) Students should improve the habit of listening to the news, because this habit can be started by listening to the news, listening to a movie, or listening to news about events at school. (b) For Indonesian teachers: Teachers who teach Indonesian subjects are expected to provide knowledge about listening to news to students clearly and completely.

ANALISIS MAKNA ORNAMEN PADA RUMAH ADAT DI DESA BAWOMATALUO KECAMATAN FANAYAMA KABUPATEN NIAS SELATAN 南尼亚斯地区法纳亚马分区巴沃马塔洛村传统房屋装饰品的意义分析

Penelitian ini dilatar belakangi adanya ornamen-ornamen rumah adat Nias yang terdapat di dalam rumah adat (omo sebua). Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan makna ornamen pada rumah adat di desa Bawomataluo Kecamatan Fanayama Kabupaten Nias Selatan dalam kajian semiotik. Jenis penelitian ini adalah penelitian kualitatif deskriptif. Subjek dalam penelitian ini adalah rumah adat Bawomataluo. Hasil penelitain dapat menunjukkan bahwa di dalam rumah adat Bawomataluo terdapat ornamen yang memiliki makna dari ornamen tersebut yang terdiri dari: Ukiran mahkota raja, Tanduk  Rusa, Meja batu dan kursi batu, Lompat batu, Ukiran buaya. Saran yang diajukan dalam penelitian ini adalah 1) Disarankan kepada mahasiswa supaya melakukan penelitian lanjut baik tentang bidang yang telah dikaji maupun dibidang lain untuk mengembangkan ilmu tentang makna ornamen yang ada pada rumah adat 2) Adanya perhatian terhadap pelestarian ornamen pada rumah adat, agar ornamen yang ada pada rumah adat Bawomataluo tetap di lestarikan.

This research is motivated by language politeness between parents and children in the family environment of Orahili Susua village. The aim of this research is to describe the form of language politeness between parents and children in the family environment in Orahili Susua village. This type of research uses case study research. Case study research is an in-depth exploration of a limited system based on extensive data collection. Based on the research findings and discussion, the result was that politeness in the language of parents and children in Orahili Susua village found 42 utterances, consisting of several maxims: (1) maxim of wisdom 15 utterances (2) maxim of generosity 10 utterances (3) maxim of respect 4 utterances (4) maxim of simplicity 6 utterances (5) maxim of consensus 5 utterances (6) maxim of sympathy 2 utterances. The conclusions from this research show that the speech of parents and children in the Orahili Susua village family environment complies with the principles of language politeness. There are also those who violate the principles of politeness in 10 utterances, consisting of: (1) maxim of wisdom 2 utterances, (2) maxim of respect 4 utterances, (3) maxim of consensus 4 utterances. For this reason, it is hoped that future researchers will further develop this research to provide benefits to readers.

This research is motivated by the meanings of the Mogaele dance found in Orahili Fau village, Fanayama district. This research aims to describe the meaning of the Mogaele dance in Orahili Fau village, Fanayama District in semiotic studies. This type of research is descriptive qualitative research. The subject of this research is the meaning of the Mogaele dance. The results of the research can show that in Orahili village there is a hidden meaning to the Mogaele dance movements, consisting of: Slow walking foot movements, arm swinging movements, tiptoe movements, straight sideways movements, and afo/betel giving movements. The suggestions put forward in this research are 1) It is recommended that students carry out further research, both in the field that has been studied and in other fields, to develop knowledge about the meaning of Mogaele dance. 2) There is attention to preserving the meaning of Mogaele dance, so that Mogaele dance remains preserved
