The radiology residence of the Los Angeles College of Chiropractic (LACC) has produced thirty-four graduates since being completely reworked in 1978 by Joseph W. Howe, D.C., D.A.C.B.R. A residency did exist before he arrived, having left the department chair position at National College of Chiropractic, but it was not very strong. Howe upgraded facilities, created opportunities for residents to study with some of the most eminent radiologists in the world and expanded the program to include up to six residents at any one time. The graduates of this program have had a profound effect on the profession, having taken positions in teaching, college administration, private clinical practice, private radiology, practice, and combinations thereof. Combined, they have published several books and book chapters and hundreds of papers in scholarly journals and trade publications
自从1978年由Joseph W. Howe, d.c. D.A.C.B.R.

Today's National Chiropractic Mutual Insurance Company (NCMIC) evolved from the legal protective services offered initially by the Universal Chiropractors' Association, and subsequently, by the National Chiropractic Association (NCA). At first these services focused on the criminal defence of chiropractors charged with unlicensed practice. However, as an increasing number of jurisdictions enacted chiropractic statutes, the NCA's legal program became ever more involved in civil litigation: suits for malpractice and negligence. Steering the NCA throughout its tumultuous voyage was its longtime secretary-treasurer, Loran M. Rogers, D.C. When the NCA spun off its legal services division in 1946, forming the National Chiropractic Insurance Company (predecessor of the NCMIC), Rogers continued his work as executive secretary-treasurer of the malpractice insurer.

This is a limited chronology of some early legal cases wherein doctors of osteopathy and chiropractic were charged with practicing without a license prior to legalization of their respective professions. This is followed by appeals of their guilty verdicts to higher courts for what they hoped would be a favorable verdict. Not all medical-practice acts contained identical language to thwart empiricism in states, thus court verdicts became pivotal for future trials, to appeals, as case law examples of statue interpretation by the same or other states.

African Americans have had a long and interesting relationship with chiropractic. Although few in actual numbers, black chiropractors as well as lay persons have made significant contributions while often suffering the double edged sword of professional isolation and racial oppression. This account traces their first half century.
