On May 18, 2022, TotalEnergies and New Hope Energy announced a commercial agreement under which New Hope Energy will build an advanced recycling plant in Texas to transform end-of-life plastic waste into a recycled feedstock that TotalEnergies will partly purchase and convert into virgin-quality polymers, which can be used for food-grade packaging.

On January 26, 2024, the DIC Group announced that Sun Chemical had completed the ECO PASSPORT by OEKO-TEX® certification for a selected range of pigments, achieving ZDHC (Zero Discharge of Hazardous Chemicals) Level 3 accreditation, the highest level possible by the ZDHC Foundation, an organization reportedly committed to safeguarding the planet by ensuring hazardous chemicals are phased out in the textile/apparel value chains.

On January 17, 2024, Freudenberg Sealing Technologies announced offering a new class of materials, intended to improve fire protection in electric vehicle drives. Its name is “Quantix ULTRA” and it reportedly resists melting even at extreme temperatures of up to 1,200 degrees Celsius. Processing the material in injection molding is claimed to be both versatile and economical. Given that today's vehicles call for lightweight construction, its lower density compared to metallic materials should be an advantage. The first series application is now underway, as a flame protection barrier for cooling system parts in an electric car's lithium-ion battery.

They can reportedly be used without restriction in place of conventional products currently affected by the PFAS debate. They are claimed to be suitable for a wide range of film applications, and they meet the requirements of the FDA and EFSA for use in contact with food. While AP9709PE EU provides enhanced rheological properties, AP9711PE EU is said to be the grade of choice if the focus is on optical properties, including clarity and haze.
