Recognizing the growing popularity and demand for scientific or numerical libraries in the C computer language, and the shortage of systematic methods for the increasingly important non-linear stochastic systems, this article attempts to present a method to approximate the solution of systems governed by non-linear stochastic differential equations and the corresponding algorithm and computer code in the C language. It was found that the C language offers promising possibilities for the stochastic systems modeler. It is hoped the use of C for the analysis of these type of problems will be encouraged.

In order to transfer data between two software systems used as part of an overall CAD/CAM system for the design and manufacture of custom orthopedic footwear, we developed an interface program to map the system's imputs and outputs. This paper discusses the NASCAD-RIM Interface version 1.0 for these two systems, the NASCAD geometric modeler and the RIM relational database management system. This interface program for these widely used systems could prove useful to software developers and users.

In the control of a remote system, it is desirable if the operator can be provided with similar sensory inputs to that which he would experience in the remote task environment. Three dimensional colour display systems have been studied with the goal of providing the sensation of presence¹. These displays provide the operator with a view of the environment captured by the remote cameras. Although this information is important, an operator of a remotely controlled vehicle/station would still derive benefit from additional information especially if the data can be presented in a graphical form.

A teleoperator system has been established which adopts real time 3-dimensional wire-frame modelling of a robot manipulator on a microcomputer host system. The system incorporates the Matrox Space-Machine/640 to enable real time animation. This provides the operator with processed information relating to the robot orientation, and gripper position, orientation and state (open/close). This paper attempts to study the application of real time 3-D computer graphics to provide the operator with processed data to enable a more dextrous and responsive control of the remote station.

This paper describes the development and structure of a computerised vehicle routing system for refuse collection in Singapore. The system uses the ‘route first-cluster second’ approach with some enhancement made in order to improve the CPU time requirement. The results obtained with data from some existing routes are also described.

This paper puts forward a “C” simulation model for the analysis of queueing systems. The model is applied to a computer facility queueing problem with and without preemption. The C program was executed on a PS2 using DOS 3.30, and TURBO C-10. The program is easy to understand and implement, and can be used to simulate considerably more complicated queueing systems than the one presented.

Large and very sparse linear systems are common in many real problems, such as those involving electrical networks, structural analyses, power distribution systems, nuclear reactor and operational research. In this paper a Pascal program suitable to solve such a kind of problem is given. The program is tailored to be used on personal computers. The code is based on the classical Gauss-Seidel iterative method.

An innovative two-dimensional domain quadrature technique inherently sensitive to functions which develop a singularity within the integration region is developed. The quadrature method utilizes a finite set of points located along the boundary and connected into a series of elements to represent the domain geometry, a feature which makes it extremely convenient for BEM work. The method combines the convenience of high order Gaussian quadrature with the practical advantages of implicit discretization of the domain. The application of the technique is to be illustrated with several useful examples of interest to engineers.
