We present ultrasound and computed tomography (CT) findings of an amputated ovarian torsion cyst in an 11-months-old female infant. The cyst contained fluid-debris level, multiple septa and punctate calcifications. Laparotomy revealed a free-floating amputated cystic mass originating from the right adnexa. Although, foci of dystrophic calcifications secondary to hemorrhage have been well demonstrated by US in ovarian torsion cysts, this is the first case of amputated ovarian torsion cyst with punctate calcifications demonstrated by CT.

A 41-year-old female suffering from water intoxication showing consciousness disturbance with a serum sodium level of 104 mEq/l followed by repeated seizures is reported. She had been treated for 16 years with the drug, chlorpromazine. The computed tomography (CT) showed a bilateral hemispheric swelling. This swelling improved after spontaneous urination with an amount of 6700 ml within the first 12 h. We postulate that severe hyponatremia is possibly life-threatening, moreover, it is hardly recognized if the past history or previous prescription record was not known, because the CT appearance is sometimes misinterpreted.

Neuroradiological findings of atypical meningiomas were retrospectively reviewed in 8 patients to clarify their characteristics. Partial or complete disappearance of the peritumoral band was seen in a majority of tumors. More than half of the tumors exhibited heterogeneous density or intensity, heterogeneous contrast enhancement, lack of dural tail sign, and a relatively large perifocal edema. The tumors sometimes showed early venous filling on angiography that is not seen in benign lesions. CT, MRI, and angiographic findings gave useful information for the possible diagnosis of the atypical meningiomas before surgery.

We report a case of pulmonary thromboembolism, in which we used conventional single-detector helical CT scanner to obtain dynamic CT data, and the decrease in pulmonary parenchymal perfusion was clearly demonstrated on perfusion CT image.

A case of severe COPD patient complicated by pneumomediastinum due to spontaneous tracheal perforation related to post-influenza vaccination is presented. The virtual bronchoscopy was superior to fiberoptic bronchoscopy and classic multi-slice CT in diagnosing the tracheal perforation.

The use of virtual bronchoscopy should be considered as a reliable diagnostic tool in cases of pneumomediastinum especially due to the ability to explore the airways in both antegrade and retrograde navigation.

A case of pigmented villonodular synovitis of the knee, simulating lipoma arborescens, is presented. The MR imaging findings are correlated with histology with emphasis to the presence of fatty tissue in the lesion that could lead to misdiagnosis.

Our purpose was to evaluate the Computed Tomography (CT) findings of the mesenteric injury retrospectively which was proven surgically. This study included 15 patients. Most findings of CT studies were free peritoneal fluid collection, infiltration of mesenteric fat and intra-mesenteric hematoma. In addition, extravasation of contrast media was visualized in one patient and bowel-wall thickening was demonstrated in two patients. Free air was not evident in our study. CT is sensitive for diagnosis of mesenteric injury and these findings should be helpful for identify the location of injury.
