The main purpose of this paper is to study the reproduction of bodies under neoliberalism from a wide labour perspective (inside and outside the wage relation). First, we draw a brief genealogy of the different reproductive norms from fordism to welfare states’ crisis (taking account of wage, consumption and unpaid housework configurations). Then, neoliberalism is analyzed in its diverse labor policies and in its ideological and theoretical discourses as a privatization process of reproduction at various levels.

The so-called Europe 2020 Strategy was aimed at removing 20 million people from poverty during the present decade. This period has been characterized by a strong economic crisis in the EU. The purpose of the Strategy 2020 has not been fulfilled. In 2016, poverty was greater than in 2008. There are several reasons for the failure of policies to combat poverty in the EU. One of the most important causes is to have considered economic growth and job creation as the only mechanisms to reduce the number of poor people. Today, work is not an insurance against poverty due to its precariousness: more than a tenth of European workers are poor at the present time.

Consumption was a topic largely forgotten on the classic political economy and its critic by Karl Marx. Later Marxist tradition has paid little attention to it, at least until the second half of the twentieth century. In this paper, I will contribute to the discussion about consumption from a Marxist point of view. The topic is too broad, so I will focus on a specific question: the main traits of what I will call the capitalist mode of consumption, its historical development, and its conditions of possibility.

The present work explores under which conditions it is possible to claim that the web 2.0 is fostering the development of neoliberal subjectivities. To this end, the first part is devoted to examining some arguments that hold this position in the field of Internet Studies. Based on these arguments it is proposed that, even if it is possible to link the design of some digital social networks with key elements of neoliberalism, it is necessary to pin down the specific sense of a power relation. The second part of this article explains how a Foucauldian Neoliberalism Studies might offer a theoretical apparatus to solve these problems. Finally, some of the limits of this model are suggested, as well as future lines of enquiry.

In this paper I would like to present one of the most prominent theorits of postcapitalism, Wolfgang Streeck, making especial reference to the roll the consumption has been playing in the process from the Fordist to the post-fordist society. His thesis will be compared with other points of view about those socio-political changes that happened since the end of the World Word II. The consumption seems to have been of key factor in that process. In this article I will try to present the sense of this importance.

In February 1848, the provisional French government published a decree in which it committed itself to “guarantee the existence of the worker through work”. During the following months, a long and vigorous debate on the right to work took place in the National Assembly. The aim of the text is to explain the meaning of this right at this historic moment. Did it consist in the commitment on the part of the State to give a job to the unemployed? Or was it, instead, a more ambitious demand? Does the right to work of 1848 have anything to do with the idea that workers have the right to the fruits of their labour? To answer these questions we will go back to the French Revolution, when the discourse of rights burst onto the political scene, and we will trace some of its transformations in the following years.
