Design considerations of airborne Sense & Avoid Radars 机载感避雷达的设计考虑

The paper deals with the design analysis of airborne Sense & Avoid Radars. Based on currently proposed requirements an S&A Radar architecture is derived. This architecture is evaluated by means of further analysis and simulations. Additionally, the design of a demonstrator and the way-ahead towards an airborne demonstration will be outlined.

Analysis of accuracy of surveillance radar image overlay by using georeferencing method 基于地理参考的监视雷达图像叠加精度分析

Shore-based radars are the key element of vessel traffic management systems, such as the VTS. To present a true visualisation of the environment and location of radar-detected targets, a radar image needs appropriate calibration. The image itself may be subject to various distortions, including systemic ones. This paper presents a study of usefulness of various georeferencing methods in the determination of radar image distortions and assessment of the accuracy of surveillance radar image overlay.

Enhanced iron-tunnel recognition for automotive radars 增强汽车雷达的铁隧道识别

In this paper, we propose a novel iron-tunnel recognition method to overcome the deterioration of the target or vehicle detection performance due to iron tunnel clutters. The proposed method measures the degree of spectral spreading through the analysis of the spectrum characteristics of the received radar signal under different road conditions. The proposed method can successfully detect iron tunnels.

Clutter properties for a side-looking radar with planar regular and irregular subarrays 具有平面规则和不规则子阵的侧视雷达杂波特性

The effect of the subarray design in a side-looking moving radar with a planar antenna on some clutter properties which are important for suppressing the clutter with STAP (Space-Time Adaptive Processing) is investigated by simulations. These properties are interference DOA Doppler Spectrum (DDS) and clutter rank. The conclusions from the work is that irregular antennas give less clutter in the DDS and that larger subarrays give lower clutter rank.

A comprehensive understanding of the forward scattering of radar signals at the rotor of a wind turbine 全面了解风力涡轮机转子处雷达信号的前向散射

Based on an analytical description by Fresnel-Kirchhoff formula the dynamics of forward scattering of Wind turbine (WT) rotor is analyzed. This method is significantly faster than investigations by measurement or 3D numerical field simulation. Therefore, for the first time, a general comprehensive understanding of the signal modulation is presented which is beyond the investigation of a particular scenario.

At airports, runway operation is the limiting factor for the overall throughput; specifically the fixed and overly conservative ICAO wake turbulence separation minima. The wake turbulence hazardous flows can dissipate quicker because of decay due to air turbulence or be transported out of the way on oncoming traffic by cross-wind, yet wake turbulence separation minima do not take into account wind conditions. Indeed, for safety reasons, most airports assume a worst-case scenario and use conservative separations. However, with the aid of accurate EDR (Eddy Dissipation Rate) retrieval by Ultra-Fast High-Range Resolution X-band Electronic-Scanning radar sensors, more efficient intervals can be set, particularly when atmosphere is unstable and turbulent, accelerating Wake-Vortex decay. Depending on traffic volume, these adjustments can generate capacity gains, which have major commercial benefits. This paper presents Electronic scanning radar trials at Toulouse-Blagnac Airport for UFO (Ultra-Fast wind sensOrs for wake-vortex hazards mitigation) project, funded by European FP7 program, on Radar EDR retrieval & Calibration.

The use of colors in radar videos can greatly improve the `readability' of the radar scene. Usually amplitudes are used to control the image intensity or color. This work presents the use of color video to display Doppler information in air, ground and sea surveillance radars. This enables the user to `read' much more from a single radar image than what would be possible in a radar image without color coded Doppler information.

Plot based target classification for ATC radars 基于图的ATC雷达目标分类

Air Traffic Control (ATC) radars are expected today to provide improved performance in terms of maximum range and spatial coverage, while the huge amount of small unwanted flying objects like birds and insects shall not lead to an increased false plot1 and / or false track2 rate. To accomplish these opposite aspects of radar capabilities, the occurring plots of the ATC primary surveillance radar (PSR) have to be assessed with respect to coming from wanted or unwanted objects. In addition to the various assessments usually implemented inside the ATC radar signal and data processing for this purpose, a new signature based plot classification is introduced to handle this challenging task. The plot classification recognises true air targets and discriminates them against echoes from birds, “angels”, wind turbines and other unwanted plots. The classification results are used to filter out false plots and to improve the plot to track association. Results from measurement campaigns show the benefit of this approach in real operational scenarios.

Radar's decoy system modeling 雷达诱饵系统建模

To protect radar against missile attacks a system of additional microwave signal emitters is used. These so-called traps or decoys should emit pulses that might hinder the precise targeting of the protected source by forming a composed microwave radiation signal. The simulation model of the radar system and radar traps is proposed. The designed simulation model allows to estimate the probability of survival of the system for given scenarios of missile attacks leading to the calculation of a certain statistics of protection.

An efficient sensor scheduling for multi-target localisation in MIMO radar networks MIMO雷达网络中多目标定位的有效传感器调度

The problem of optimally selecting a subset of transmitters and receivers from a set of transmitters/receivers in a MIMO radar network which will minimize the localisation error of multiple in-region targets of interest under power constraint is studied. We show that such a problem can be formulated as an estimation variance minimization problem with a submodular variance reduction function. Based on the property of submodularity, a transmitter/receiver selection policy which minimizes the overall estimation covariance is proposed. Together, we also present an algorithm which can efficiently implement this sensor scheduling policy in polynomial time with a guaranteed accuracy compared to the optimal solution. The effectiveness and efficiency of the proposed method are demonstrated using simulated examples.
