This review aimed to analyze the activities of all state and commercial cord blood banks in the Russian Federation, to estimate the total number of cord blood samples in storage at the beginning of 2023, and to determine the practical use of the biomaterial for treatment allogeneic and autologous transplants for oncohematological diseases, as well as for scientific research in the field of regenerative medicine for the entire period of the banks' operation, which is twenty years. To date, there are 12 cord blood banks providing personal, public or mixed storage of samples. At the moment, up to 26,000 cord blood samples are in public storage, and about 75,000 samples are in personal storage. As part of the review, the main and additional services provided by banks, as well as their current cost, were studied. The average cost of cord blood sample collection in the Russian Federation is 62,500 rubles, and the average annual cost of storage is 6,000 rubles. The main market indicators, trends, key problems of biobanking and prospects for the use of cord blood cells in the Russian Federation in the coming years are considered in detail. Separately, data on the prospects for the use of umbilical cord mesenchymal stem cells, a widely studied biomaterial, which, like cord blood, can be collected after childbirth and cryopreserved for long-term storage, are briefly presented. Stem cells of the umbilical cord are being actively studied in the field of regenerative medicine due to their properties to restore cartilaginous muscle and bone tissue, stimulate the growth of new blood vessels, and block autoimmune reactions. In addition, the current tasks and results of the activities of Ruscord, an association of specialists and organizations in the field of procurement, storage, use of cord blood cells and cell technologies, which over several years of its activity has already made a significant contribution to the development of the biobanking market, were analyzed. In September 2020, a unified standard for the collection, processing, storage and issuance of cord blood for use was approved the Russian standard RUSCORD.

BACKGROUND: Methods and tools for operating with multichannel electrophysiological signals need to develop and correspond to the speed of data traffic in contemporary experiments. Analyzing and visualizing experimental data with minimal delay and with minimized experimenter effort is a pressing task in the field of neurobiology and requires the use of complex approaches specifically selected for each specific type of experiment. Creating open-source programs that can be promptly adapted for different tasks is one of the approaches that provide the ability to perform complex scientific experiments with high quality. AIM: This work is aimed at creating open-source software for analytical and visualization support of neurobiological experiments. METHODS: Software development was performed in MATLAB environment. The program is built on a modular principle and includes an intuitive graphical interface that facilitates control of the signal processing and display. RESULTS: A software tool was created that allows to optimize and accelerate various stages of electrophysiological research, including preliminary analysis of the quality of the experiment being prepared, in-depth analysis of recorded signals, and preparation of illustrative material for publications. CONCLUSION: The resulting program has a number of advantages in comparison with similar products in terms of versatility, speed, and availability, and can be used to solve a wide class of research problems.

BACKGROUND: Deficit in the regulation of emotional stress is considered as an important factor in the development of coronary heart disease (CHD). The functions of assessment and regulation of emotions are performed by the structures of the prefrontal cortex and amygdala, the activation and interaction of which differs in men and women. In this regard, the question of the gender specificity of the cortical mechanisms of emotional regulation associated with coronary artery disease is relevant. AIMS: to find out the significance of self-assessment of emotional control of behavior (EC) in the frequency-spatial organization of brain activity in men and women with CHD. METHODS: To analyze the frequency-spatial organization of the resting EEG, we used 64-channel EEG recording and calculation of the power of rhythms in six frequency ranges from 4 to 30 Hz using a fast Fourier transform. Spearman's non-parametric correlation analysis was used to determine the correlation of EC as a personality trait according to the questionnaire of emotional intelligence and EEG power indicators. RESULTS: The study was performed in a cardiology clinic involving 56 men (61.2 8.5 years) and 19 women (67.4 4.8 years) diagnosed with CAD. Correlation analysis of EC and average EEG power indicators revealed positive relationships in the range of 4-13 Hz in the group of men and negative in the group of women (0.19Rs0.28 and -0.20Rs-0.40, respectively; p0.030). The regional specificity of the detected effect was characterized by a significant relationship between EC and the power of theta2, alpha1, 2, presented in the anterior part of the cortex with the dominance of the left hemisphere in men, but in the posterior part of both hemispheres - in women, and the latter effect was limited by theta 2 and alpha 1 frequency. CONCLUSIONS: The results of the performed analysis of the relationship of EC and regional indicators of resting EEG power in the 6-13 Hz range indicate different forms of control of the emotional state in women and men with CHD.

The development of genome-wide association studies has made it possible to isolate many genes associated with obesity — one of the most common diseases in the world. For a possible correction of this process, there is a need for a more detailed study of certain genes, the expression of which can change during metabolic processes associated with obesity. The aim of this review is to identify the most promising candidate genes for further studies of metabolic disorders associated with obesity.

Autosomal recessive congenital ichthyosis (ARCI) is a heterogeneous group of diseases caused by mutations in at least ten genes. ARCI is characterized by varying degrees of hyperkeratosis and the presence of scales on the surface of the patients’ skin since birth. Despite the variety of mutations and phenotypic manifestations of ARCI, from 32 to 68% of cases are due to a mutation in the transglutaminase-1 gene. Currently, ARCI therapy is aimed at reducing the symptoms of the disease. To alleviate clinical symptoms, symptomatic therapy with moisturizers, keratolytics, retinoids and other cosmetic substances that improve the condition of the patients' skin is used. There is a great need for the development of therapy aimed at the root cause of the development of the ARCI. Graft transplantation is usually used to correct eyelid defects in ARCI. Gene and cell therapy are developing as promising methods for the treatment of ARCI, with the help of which it is possible to correct the functional activity of mutant genes, in particular, transglutaminase-1. The review discusses current research on gene and cell therapy approaches and their future prospects in the treatment of patients with various forms of ichthyosis.
