UITED NIONS Intra-African migration is a catalyst for economic growth and structural transformation. It contributes to gross domestic product, employment, trade, poverty reduction and inclusive growth. The Economic Development in Africa Report 2018: Migration for Structural Transformation examines how well-managed migration can help to address Africa’s development challenges. The Report identifies key actions that can be taken at national, regional and continental levels to overcome barriers to intra-African mobility. Safe and orderly migration, besides contributing to economic growth, can provide the impetus for structural transformation in Africa, and unlock the potential of migration to contribute to the achievement of Agenda 2030 for Sustainable Development and Africa’s Agenda 2063.
