An intermediate metamodel for failure-based behavior of performance and reliability 基于故障的性能和可靠性行为的中间元模型

Software quality analysis is an important part in getting better software systems. Performing software quality analysis during design time enhances design decisions. In order to assist design decisions and the quality analysis, the design model, which is annotated with quality information, must be transformed into analysis model to execute software analysis part. To achieve this purpose, a main idea is to define model transformation that takes some input from design model and transformed into analysis model. However, both model inherits heterogeneous notation and semantic that could be difficult to perform direct model transformation. To solve this shortcoming, the intermediate metamodel, which is based on failure behavior, is defined as to capture the essential quality information particularly for performance and reliability and be able to transform into a multiple analysis model. In this paper, the intermediate metamodel is presented and focusing on the mapping rules for model transformation from design model to intermediate model. First, the design model (annotated sequence diagram) is modeled and then is transformed into intermediate model (output of intermediate metamodel) by following the defined mapping rules. Then, the intermediate model is constructed to obtain failure based behavior factors. The intermediate metamodel is applied on a simple case study to show the applicability of the intermediate metamodel.

Using activity theory in analyzing requirements for mobile phone application 运用活动理论分析手机应用的需求

System analyst often faced difficulties in articulating user's need into software requirements due to the lack of framework emphasizing on socio-technical systems. Activity Theory is a theory that focuses the human practices of development process, both the individual and social levels. It provides a comprehensive unit of analysis of the objects to be studied. This paper describes a case study involving the use of Activity Theory to analyze requirements comprehensively for a mobile ticketing solution. The research starts by eliciting the requirements using survey, observation and content analysis method, analyzing them and then mapping them into activity diagrams. To present the requirements in a detailed manner, decomposition of activities is being done before demonstrating the system features using graphical user interface. The result of this paper shows the application of Activity Theory that is ideally suited to handle mobile application requirements.

Requirement engineering practice research framework for the public service organisation 公共服务组织需求工程实践研究框架

The requirement engineering (RE) practice was implemented without knowing by IT Personnel. This RE framework design purposely to identify the RE practice that implemented during software project requirement in Malaysian Public Sector. We determine the software requirement system (SRS) flow from the initial interview. We have a list of IT Personnel RE practice experience for the software project from the pilot test. We identified the problem arise and the RE practice implemented from the actual survey. The RE practice that identify will validate by the IT expert in Malaysian Public Sector. We plan to developed standards, tools, and methods can help to improve the current practice. Our expectation is the practice that can be as a guideline to IT Personnel using RE practice during software project requirement.

A model for knowledge portal to support communities of practice 支持实践社区的知识门户模型

Communities of practice (CoP) are groups of individuals with common interest who communicate and share knowledge among their respective group. The use of knowledge portals for CoP will assist the exchange of knowledge, thus it promotes the learning process. Nevertheless, such portals may encounter many challenges to draw the interest among the members in sharing their knowledge voluntarily. As the result, the portals face inactive participants among the members. Knowledge sharing system such as knowledge portal is useless without knowledge sharing activity among its members. In order to encourage users to share their knowledge, we first must uncover the underlying problems on why the users are reluctant to share their knowledge through the knowledge sharing system. This paper reviews the current obstacles in knowledge sharing among CoP and proposes a model to support the needs that software engineers may consider when designing a knowledge portal.

The demand of secure computing systems and its platform is crucial in today's networked and computing world. As the number of illegitimate users and applications increased, the systems vulnerabilities can be a treat to individuals and organizations. This paper highlights software vulnerabilities and approaches to address them. In addition to such awareness that has been going on for the past decade, this research proposed a tool that can increase engineer's skills and knowledge towards secure software in building secure system. This proposed tool will be discussed about the software vulnerabilities and present these vulnerabilities in the form of exercises, questions, queries, and solution for the users including some examples for every vulnerability in order to give more clearer understanding to the users.

Integration of cultural dimensions into software localisation testing of assistive technology for deaf children 聋儿辅助技术软件本地化测试中文化维度的整合

Lack of hearing ability hinders deaf children from mastering grammar in language studies. Unfortunately, such software targeting Malay language is limited. This paper attempts to generate new approach in handling such software. These include detection of defects when switching into local languages, date format and accommodating the local laws. The acceptance of international software for local use goes beyond just these aspects. For this purpose, software that supports the multi-languages is evaluated. The main research question of this paper: The lack of cultural dimensions in localisation testing of assistive technology decreases the effectiveness of localisation testing of the localised software. On the account of cultural dimensions, Hofstede's Cultural Dimensions will be experimented to study which cultural dimensions are most suited for such software. From our empirical results, the failure rate of the testing is higher compared to incorporating culture dimensions.

Today, Agile development has become popular due to the ability to deliver fast and hence reduce cost. It is expected that by 2012, Agile development method will be utilized in 80% of all software development projects. Since 2010, some of software projects in MIMOS have adopted agile methodology. Therefore, this paper will focus on how agile methodology applied in MIMOS has influenced the requirement process. The paper will discuss on the benefits and challenges that MIMOS faced using JIRA and Redmine in requirement development.

Middleware framework for integration of heterogeneous hardware and software 用于集成异构硬件和软件的中间件框架

There is a significant amount of research on the integration of heterogeneous hardware and software concerning wireless sensor networks (WSN). Due to the limitations in terms of energy, memory capacity and computational power of the wireless sensors, various applications are designed to optimize the use of wireless sensors according to the needs of various business and industries such as environmental monitoring, asset tracking, health monitoring, military surveillance and industrial automation and control. These applications sometimes interacts with one another hence lays the need to integrate data between the applications. The hardware itself is configured based on the requirements of the aforementioned applications considering the limitations of the sensors as various communication protocols and operating systems are used in different types of sensors. As a result of the heterogeneous nature of the hardware and applications concerning wireless sensor networks, a middleware is needed to reduce the effort and cost of integrating the heterogeneous hardware and software. This paper proposes an architectural design of a middleware that tackles the issues of data formatting for hardware and software integration and heterogeneous data integration concerning wireless sensor networks.

Due to the limitations in terms of energy, memory capacity and computational power of the wireless sensors, various applications are designed to optimize the use of wireless sensors according to the needs of various business and industries such as environmental monitoring, asset tracking, health monitoring, military surveillance and industrial automation and control. These applications sometimes interacts with one another hence lays the need to integrate data between the applications. The hardware itself is configured based on the requirements of the aforementioned applications considering the limitations of the sensors as various communication protocols and operating systems are used in different types of sensors. As a result of the heterogeneous nature of the hardware and applications concerning wireless sensor networks, a middleware is needed to reduce the effort and cost of integrating the heterogeneous hardware and software. WSMO-M: NFP-aware web service discovery for mobile computing WSMO-M:用于移动计算的nfp感知web服务发现

Nowadays, the significant advancement of mobile technologies has led to the possibility of accessing web services in a pervasive way and semantic web service discovery approaches seem to be the most promising approach to perform semantic matching. The proliferation of web services with similar functionalities is increasing rapidly. Thus, differentiation of the characteristics of web service offered has become more crucial. Without considering non-functional properties (NFPs) such as user requirement and quality standard of web services, it may result to irrelevant services to the users' need in mobile computing. Mobile users may discover unusable web services invoked, due to the device compatibility issues and lack of quality standard information in service description. This paper proposes WSMO-M(Mobile), an enhancement of WSMO to describe NFPs as a context and Quality of Web Service (QoWS) information for mobile computing environment. Initially, for annotating web service description, the context and QoWS models are specified by using Web Service Modeling Ontology (WSMO). Semantic matchmaking and degree of match calculation are also presented to define the importance of non-functional properties in mobile computing during the discovery and selection of web services. Finally, this paper demonstrates the applicability of the enhancement through a simple case study.

RIOT: Rapid, iterative and off-the-shelf tool-evaluation RIOT:快速、迭代和现成的工具评估

Tool surveys of BPM tools often provide masses of detailed information which are not well presented. This makes studies of surveys a very tedious and time consuming task, since readers get lost in the pure mass of details. RIOT: Our “Rapid, Iterative and Off-the-shelf Tool-Evaluation”, is a novel evaluation approach which bases on detailed surveys but focuses on the target audience and how to present information well. Hence, RIOT takes scenarios and stakeholders into consideration in order to meet the users' actual needs. Therefore, we subdivided RIOT into phases, tailored each to human attention span, and combined active and passive parts. Thus, we claim, that users will be able to evaluate much more efficiently compared to other evaluation approaches.
